Can Jaw Clenching, IBS, Pot Smoking Relate To PTSD?? | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 15 February 2009

Hi there. I heard your interview on New Dimensions Radio and it really rang true that I have had issues with post traumatic stress. I was witness to a suicide bomb in Jerusalem a few years ago. I think that my jaw clenching, irritable bowel syndrome and possibly my quasi-addiction to pot are related to this incident. What CDs would you recommend? Likewise, I just wanted to thank you for your work.
Take care,
Curtis

How Can You Say We’re All “Safe” in that Last Affirmation? | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 08 February 2009

Question:

What is meant at the end of Affirmations about being safe? Usually I would think of something like a protective bubble around me.  If you’re in Gaza what does safe mean? Unemployed, what does it mean? Safe conveys to me the idea of no harm.  Explanation, please.*
William M.

* The writer is refering to the controversial line, “I know I am held in the hands of God and I am perfectly, utterly safe.”

Self-Confidence CDs with Subliminals?? | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 01 February 2009

Question:
Please Tell me if any of your confidence CD's are in subliminal form. Thank you.
Nick

Answer:
Nick,
There are no subliminal messages on my Health Journeys Self-Confidence CD, nor on Emmett Miller’s Optimal Performance , nor on Shirley McNeal’s Core Inner Strength), nor on Martha Howard’s Keys to Your Highest Potential.

The only CD that has subliminal content under its narrative is David Illig's Self-Esteem.  He embeds simple affirmations (which we checked out before adding his titles to our list) under his excellent Ericksonian hypnosis narrative.  You can just barely hear some of them with your naked ear.

Why Would the Self-Confidence Imagery Reduce My Appetite? | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 25 January 2009

Question:

Hello Ms. Naparstek.  First, thank you for sharing your wonderful imagery CDs with us. I am enjoying them very much. :)

I bought Self Confidence and Weight Loss , but I have only been listening to Self Confidence so far.  I read in your Archives that you suggest people start with one CD so I reluctantly picked Self- Confidence and have been waiting to start the other. :)

I've been listening for about a week now, not a very long time, I would think. But what makes me very happy is that I've noticed it is easier for me to turn down excess food. So I was curious - do people tend to have other positive side effects when listening to the CDs? Or is the food thing somehow related to Self-Confidence then?  Hey - anything that keeps me out of the lasagna is a GOOD thing! lol :)

Thank you very much again. Wishing you all good things and continued success. :)

Anna

When All Is Said & Done, Folks, Anxiety Is Anxiety!! | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 18 January 2009

Question:
Dear Belleruth, thank you so much for your work. I am in the process of conquering anxiety and my therapist suggested I explore some of your Health Journeys. I love listening and repeating the affirmations in my car on my way to work. I notice a difference already only after 3 days!

I was not officially diagnosed with OCD but was told by my doctor that I have OCD tendencies. Would it be alright for me to use the OCD imagery or is this only for people who have been officially diagnosed? Also, I suffer from health anxiety.  Do you have any specific recommendations for dealing with this form of anxiety? Thank you again, you have been an integral part of my transition and healing.

Anorexic Adult Daughter with PTSD from Childhood Sexual Abuse Avoids Therapy… | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 11 January 2009

Question:

I have a daughter who was sexually abused by her brother when she was 6. She is 24 now and several years ago she finally remembered some of the horrible events. She is anorexic due to the abuse. She refuses to go to therapy because she doesn't want to tell her story. Any CD that can help these issues or help her to get to a therapist?

Why on Earth Would You Use the Word “Can” in an Affirmation? | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 04 January 2009

Dear BR,
I received your first cassette when I was undergoing chemo for breast cancer.  The chemo nurse gave it to me.  I loved it, especially the guided imagery part.  I also used your surgery tape and I breezed thru the operation.  Then I bought other CDs, but found them repetitive and the imagery very similar, no matter what the topic.  I myself have been using affirmations and teaching meditation for 30 years.

Can My Developmentally Disabled Brother Use Guided Imagery? | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 28 December 2008

Dear Belleruth,

I have a 22 year old brother with mental retardation/developmental disability.  He lives in a group home and holds down a job at a local supermarket as a stock boy.  Every now and then, he gets stressed, just like the rest of us.  My question is this:  can you use guided imagery with people like my brother?  Would he be able to get something out of a guided imagery CD? I’d like to give him a pre-loaded iPod for Christmas.

Thank you in advance,

Martin T.

She's Finally Dumping That Abusive Philanderer – But Why Is It So Hard? | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 21 December 2008

Dear Belleruth:

After being married for 33 years to the same man since I was 21 years old, I have asked for a divorce. He has been unable to change his emotionally & verbally abusive behaviors, in spite of counseling. In October, I discovered he was having a sexual affair (2nd time) with a woman younger than him (he is 58, she 45). He said he wanted a divorce, that he has been unhappy a long time. I said fine, I will make this happen.

I am fed up with him, but I feel so sad, heartbroken really, in spite of the problems.  What do you suggest for all the emotional upheavals? Please change my name to Kathie. Do not give my last name or email.

-Kathie

Desperate from Husband’s On-Again, Off-Again Sobriety | Print |  E-mail
Sunday, 07 December 2008

Question:

I love your tapes. I use Anger and Forgiveness in dealing with my feelings concerning my husband’s ongoing battle with alcoholism. He is sober for 8 or 9 months and then back out again.. I wonder if you have any other support for the person married to or dealing with an alcoholic? I am in desperate need of more support... I use Panic Attacks and Depression, but wonder if you had anything more specific or would be doing something like that in the future.... Thanks.

Severe Childhood Abuse Survivor Asks What Else He Can Use To Complement Trauma Imagery | Print |  E-mail
Monday, 01 December 2008

Question:

Dear Belleruth,

First of all thank you for the PTSD Guided Imagery Mp3's. They are, perhaps quite literally, a life saver. I've been in therapy for severe childhood trauma and I listen to your MP3's on my iPod ... well ... I can't imagine not having them and it's been a wonderful compliment to my therapy sessions.  And every time I hear you say "You are healing ... you will continue to heal", I feel deeply moved beyond words.  The sound of your voice, your help and guidance that comes across makes you the most dearest and treasured friend I've never met. : )
