Belleruth,
I was recently at a professional conference (I am a clinical psychologist, male, 34 years old) where I sat through several presentations. A couple were adequate and far too many were a dull rehash of things I already knew. As is often the case, I came away thinking that I didn’t learn anything and I could have done a much better job than most of the “experts” I had to listen to. I am frustrated because I don’t know how to get myself to the point where I’m not in the audience but at the podium. How do I go about getting there? You seem to have managed to do this, so I want to know how you did it. I’m hoping for an honest answer.

I have had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for 13 years. I was soaring in my career and towards my dream of a perfect life. I was a computer consultant and traveled weekly around the USA, installing banking software and training users on how to use it. I was also starting my own business on the side which meant waking up very early in whatever hotel room I was in and working on my PC, then putting in a long day's work, and finally coming back to the hotel room and working some more.
Then I became horribly ill and was put on short term disability. I never dreamed that I might never work again. |

What To Do for “White Coat Hypertension” When They Show Up with that BP Cuff |

Since you have Successful Surgery, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to do something on the order of fear of medical procedures? Specifically, for when getting your blood pressure checked. A good 30% of people, I've read, suffer from White Coat Hypertension. It's something subconscious that we have no control over that beckons the fight or flight response in a doctor's office but is fine at home. This is a very worrisome condition causing many doctors to convince their patients they actually do have high blood pressure and give them dangerous unnecessary medications. I can find nowhere on the web that offers this title. It would be a valuable service and I know I would buy it.
Thank you for reading this.

Dear Belleruth,
I have 2 small children, a full time job and a husband. These are wonderful gifts in my life, but I recently was diagnosed with clinical depression and am frustrated because I have so many great things (healthy kids, loving husband, great job) and can not get excited about anything. How do I understand, accept and move forward toward enjoying my life again?

Breast Cancer Survivor Asks What To Do for Post-Chemo Depression and Anxiety |

Hi! I have used your CD's to help me with my Breast Cancer treatment. I am now done with the treatment and left, hopefully, medically cancer free. But oh what a number has been done on my spirit! Lack of trust in my body, in the future, and sea sickness from all the emotions roiling around in me.
I have read that MANY (maybe most) Breast Cancer survivors have to seek help from anti-depressants or simply suffer untreated depression after their medical treatment. Since what especially needs healing now is the spirit, what better work for guided imagery? Maybe your post trauma CD is what I am looking for and I will try it, but it seems there are some specific aspects of cancer fighting (like the possibility of recurrence) that make this need unique.
Do you take requests? : )
Thanks, Joyce |

Is It Possible To Over-Do It with the Guided Imagery?? |

Hello Belleruth,
I was most fortunate to have attended your Conference on guided imagery in New Orleans. I utilize TF-CBT with children, but had not been maximizing the relaxation-imagery component, and this will help me ramp that up to help these severely traumatized children and youth.
Now, I am in my forties and suffered from what I now know were panic attacks for most of my late teen and early adult years, possibly due to hormonal shifts I now describe as anxiety. |

Hello,
First, I would like to express my appreciation for the wonderful cd's that I have received and listen to daily. My question is that I was wondering if you have any cd's on narcotics addiction other than the one on Alcohol & Other Drugs. It is very good, but I am looking for something more specific.
I also would like to know if you had a guided meditation that would only run for 14 to 18 minutes, so that it could be used in a guided meditation meeting format. Any help would be appreciated as I currently use non-specific cd's that I purchased fron Health Journeys.
Thank you for listening.

We found this query on the blog, in response to an Inspiring Story that praised Cancer Guide/health writer Henry Dreher to the skies for helping turn around a husband’s terminal diagnosis:
Elena writes:
I would really love to get more info from you regarding how to contact Henry Dreher and what his cancer guide services are. My father was diagnosed with bilateral renal cell carcinoma and we would like to make use of all the help we can get for him. He is taking a targeted therapy chemo in pill form called Nexavar. We anxiously await his first scan in another month to determine if this has helped. I am doing some guided imagery with him in person; however, he wears a hearing aid in each ear and says he cannot hear from a portable CD player to listen to CDs on his own. I feel in a real bind about this. Thank you for your help.

Woman Gets Slimed By Punk Psychic Reader |

This question came not long ago:
Hi, I had a psychic reading that made me miserable. Won't go into details, but I am still hurt one month after the reading. Worst of all, the psychic has a popular reputation, and everyone seems to tell me how accurate he is.
In my situation though, I wanted to ask about my career because I was unemployed at that time. Yet, he chose to spoke about my love life and told me I had no luck in love in New Zealand. But the worst thing was he recommended I return to my home country (I am Asian)...and what he did not know was I am much more unlucky in love there, because over there, people my age (29!) are considered over the hill and "old maids". However, he made plenty more assumptions about my culture that was not true, as well, and used them as basis for my going back.
Shortly after the reading (and many tears) I miraculously found a job that I liked. But it's too late. Since that reading, I've been so miserable. While my original worry about my career is lessening.... now, he's directed my fear to my pathetic romantic life, and confusion whether to stay or go. Because if what he says about my shitty love life is true, then why fullfil my hope of a successful career in New Zealand and end up a spinster? I have been more confused, upset, and not to mention offended by his reading. |

Hi Belleruth,
Might you be coming out with tapes/cd’s that would be Christian in nature? I have your Depression and Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue imagery and highly recommend them.
But for myself, I would like to hear power coming from God, not mystical beings and such.
Sincerely,
Vanessa |

Question:
"My niece is having lots of fears about becoming pregnant. Is there one
or any of your cd's that I can obtain for her that may help ease her
mind? She's had a couple of miscarriages, but is physically fine to
get pregnant. She's just got so many scary thoughts about pregnancy,
childbirth and motherhood." |
