A high school coach asks what guided imagery would be best for a high school track or cross-country team, and BR makes some suggestions for resources.. Dear BR,
Would you please recommend a resource for sports imagery for a high school track or cross-country team? Thank-you very much.
Ruthy

Dear Ruthy,
From personal experience with my oldest son from when he was a thirteen year old pitcher on a junior high ball team, I can wholeheartedly recommend David Illig''s Peak Performance - Sports CD. Emmett Miller''s Optimal Performance CD is another fine resource that works really well. And, our Health Journeys Self-Confidence/Peak Performance audio is good for sports, too, although it also works for other kinds of performance challenges too - music recitals, job interviews, test-taking, etc.

Those would be my top choices. They''re all quite different in style and content, but each gets the listener to the same place. David Illig uses Ericksonian hypnosis - very indirect but powerful hypnotic suggestion, plus some embedded positive suggestions that are just barely at hearing level. Emmett Miller’s is relaxation plus traditional hypnosis - more straightforward and directive, but equally effective. Our Health Journeys audio is pure, multisensory, body-based guided imagery. Different members of the team will prefer different styles, voices, content and mood. For that reason, it would be great if you could offer several and give the kids a chance to try different ones out.

We actually have some other terrific resources, too. You can look over our whole selection at the ''Performing Under Pressure'' page, archived in our online catalog at http://www.healthjourneys.com/product_catalog.asp?cr=&cc=24&ca=&cm=&inum=

Best of luck, and thanks for asking!
