| Gutsy Cancer Patient Sells Her Oncologist On Imagery |

We got so many inspiring emails from the people answering our request for information about their cancer experiences. This stage 4 lung cancer patient didn’t preach to her oncologist – she just won him over by her dazzling example. I’ve always believed in this method of persuasion – simply become a walking commercial for what you believe in! It can’t be beat! (Credit also goes to her doc, who proved himself to be flexible, open and wise – wise enough to let himself learn from this remarkable woman!) In one book, Remarkable Recovery, it was interesting to see that all those people who had those remarkable recoveries had many things in common: an incredible will to live, willingness to change, and some spiritual or mental realization.

Great story! For post chemo (and every stage) I recommend Dr. Martin Rossman's Fighting Cancer from Within. The book is terrific. there are 15 guided imagery scripts. And all of the imagery is available on CD--including "Your Life in Perspective" and "Living Healthy and Well" for after treatment. www.thehealingmind.org

Thanks

Hi Jean, thanks for sharing! I have also read Anti Cancer and think it is a must read for anyone wanting to prevent and help maximize cancer treatments. So glad you converted your oncologist!

I made a list of heathy, helpful dvd's and cd's for the oncology office I go to, and plan on starting a health oriented lending library, even if it's with my own books to start, as the movies they lend out during ind=fusions are old comedies, which have there place, but nothing else, and a few magazines... like wine spectator...give me a break, I want them to use my books, and buy some that cover health issues cancer patients face!!!
Plus, a nice soothing yoga or qi gong dvd, or a healthy lesson about the earth, would be more beneficial to the time spent there... and forget about the guided imagery, if they introduced that to the patients... it would make the visit shorter, by interest, and sweeter, by healthful impact. I'm going to recommend this stuff next week, made my lists, have my own contributions as back up, so I just need your positive thoughts that I will be heard! Yes, ANti-Cancer is on the top of the stack!!! I've let my fellow patients know of two other supportive outlets, like yoga and qi gong classes in our area, and a special woman's counseling center for cancer patients, that has much to offer... but now I must move on to the DR.'s and the hospitals, because they are so far behind out integrating all these fantastic complementary and alternative services, I feel it's a pity, really. Has anyone heard of Urban ZEn.org, btw? Talk about taking this initiative into hospitals, they are already contracted out in NYC to do it!!! I love progessive people, don't you? xoxo Write comment
