Through Guided Imagery, the operating theater became a familiar place | Print |  E-mail

Belleruth,

I just wanted to let you know how successful guided imagery was for me, and continues to be to me. On August 13, 2008 I was given new life by way of a quadruple by-pass. I listened to guided imagery for Pain, Surgery , Cardiac ICU and Cardiac Rehab.

Through Guided Imagery, the operating theater became a familiar place, with competent, compassionate professionals, all moving in sync to overcome the burden of four blockages (1 at 100%, 4 at 89%). The Cardiac ICU was not a hostile place, as the friendly faces found there did their level best to provide comfort and healing.

Today, just six days after the surgery, I am home with my family, still listening to these meditations, still opening my mind to the possibilities that now lay before me.

Respectfully, Brandon K.

I am a clinical SW and work in a Cancer Center at St. Vincents Hospital in Portland , OR...I have been an enthusiastic teacher and supporter of guided Imagery for 25 years..ever since I took Marty Rossman's/Academy for Guided Imagery Courses...however 2 years ago I got a chance to put into practice what I had been preaching..I was going to have a total knee replacement...so, in addition to weight loss and exercise I began listening to the Successful Surgery CD...once through surgery I began the Ease the Pain CD....I was off narcotics in 5 days, up on my feet and feeling much better than I thought I would. I credit a lot of my successful recovery to the CD usage and recommend it to all my cancer patients who are facing surgery...actually I hand out your brochures as if they were perscription pads...thanks for all you do...Toni

Hello, Toni Lonning!!
Just for the record, Toni Lonning is an amazing social worker and a huge comfort and resource for so many people dealing with cancer. She indeed gets guided imagery into the ears of an astonishing number of people. I had the good fortune of meeting her at an AGI conference a few years ago.
Toni, you amaze and delight!
