A woman with lupus and several associated auto-immune conditions asks if the imagery in the Rheumatoid Arthritis/Lupus CD would be appropriate, being as how joint inflammation is a lesser symptom for her.. I am interested in your audio program, the Health Journeys CD for Rheumatoid Arthritis or Lupus (SLE). I have Lupus and several associated autoimmune syndromes. However, joint inflammation, while sometimes present, has been generally more manageable than some of my other symptoms, which are diverse and include intense Sjogren''s symptoms, malaise & achiness, sleep problems, flu-like feelings, night sweats, fogginess, queasiness, rashes, and bouts of anxiety and depression which correlate to disease activity.

I am interested in guided imagery which would emphasize a calming and balancing of the immune system as a whole, as well as of the mind and spirit. Please let me know if you think your program would be suitable.

I have tried a number of meditation techniques and programs, but I''m having difficulty "visualizing" the immune system in an applicable way.

Thank you very much!
Donelle

Dear Donelle,

Yes, I do think our imagery for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus includes the focus on balancing the immune system that you are looking for, as well as imagery that covers a wide array of autoimmune symptoms all over the body, not just joint inflammation. So although it doesn’t target some of the specifics you mention (the dry eyes of Sjogren’s or night sweats or queasiness, for instance), it does have enough general imagery to cover those symptoms, too.

And certainly it addresses achiness, fatigue, rashes and discomfort, as those things are common enough to lupus; and all of our audios are helpful with depression and anxiety, including this one. So I hope you’ll give it a try.

In addition, our Healthful Sleep might be useful for the sleep problems (although the arthritis/lupus imagery might help with sleep too... And it’s perfectly fine to fall asleep while listening to the imagery - it helps awake or asleep).

I hope this helps.
