The effects of imagery on attitudes and moods in multiple sclerosis patients. A pilot study in 1996 by B.L. Maguire with 33 multiple sclerosis patients showed that when half the subjects participated in a 6-session group process that taught relaxation skills and physiological imagery, they demonstrated significant reductions in state anxiety (as measured on the POMS test and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory), as compared to the controls.
