The weekend workshops on Reversing Panic Attacks, Acute Stress and PTSD: Powerful New Solutions to Formerly Intractable Problems in New Orleans (Oct 4-5), Denver (October 11-12) and Salt Lake City (Nov 22-23) are starting to fill up.

I’m particularly happy to be bringing this information to New Orleans, where it’s still badly needed. Now that we have inexpensive, portable and user-friendly tools that can truly help disaster survivors, I feel obligated to get ‘em out there. When we first posted our
Katrina Survivor Page right after the flooding, (basic information on acute stress symptoms, plus a free guided imagery intervention for symptom management) we got a gratifyingly strong response. But now we know even more and have that much more sophisticated, targeted tools to offer, thanks to our recent research and (unfortunately) greater experience with a whole range of horrific events.

Being able to build that page so quickly and relatively inexpensively (thank you, you crazy, digital universe, you!) made it possible for our company to be responsive without going broke; and it allowed me to channel my sputtering, unbelieving, helpless outrage at the way Katrina survivors were being kicked around into something productive and sanity-saving. I kid you not, I could not believe the footage I was watching on TV, and I’ll never forget it. But I digress.

These weekend workshops provide a comprehensive and updated overview on how imagery is a best practice for posttraumatic stress, acute stress and panic attacks; provides the latest research evidence to back this up (dazzling stuff!); offers practical tips on how to most effectively use it; and provides samples and demos.

It’s for clinicians (and provides 9 CE hours) but it’s also for regular folks, too, who are looking for help for themselves or people they care about. We usually get a lot from both groups at these seminars, and it works very well for learning to have both populations in the same room. And, believe it or not, it’s a lot of fun too. There’s considerable laughter and camaraderie to be found at these wonderful Conferenceworks events.

More info about the content of this workshop is here; participant feedback is here; and online registration here.

So please come join us if you’re drawn to this topic, either as a health or mental health practitioner; or as a lay person with personal concerns.

Oh, and by the way, our blog is making great progress. One of these days you’re going to click on our site and - TA-DAH!! - you’re going to see something different and quite fabulous!

OK, take care and be well.
