Once again a new study shows that an online podcasting program can help with behavioral change – in this case, weight loss.  This time it was a 12-week podcasting program, designed by the researchers themselves.

The literature is definitely stacking up in favor of web-based programs for mental health (all those successful depression studies from Australia, for instance) and for behavioral change (smoking cessation and weight loss, for instance).  It’s good to know that people will have more access to help when they need it, even if they live far away from a professional or don’t have the financial wherewithal for weekly therapy sessions.

I want to mention two new items that I’m delighted to say we’ve just started carrying. The first is our favorite health psychologist and hypnotherapy mavin, Dr. Carol Ginandes’ 2-CD set for power napping, entitled The Ultimate Power Nap for Rapid Rest & Renewal.  It’s designed to quickly and easily train you to enjoy the restorative, healthful benefits of taking a short, daytime rest break.

The first CD explains the myriad benefits of napping (huge!) and provides a practice session. The second CD guides you to the nap itself.  It’s a beautifully produced and written program that will give you the tools for invigorating and energizing your daily living, so check it out!  Carol’s really outdone herself here.

The second item is a bit of a departure for us, but everyone at HJ is simply crazy about Sombra pain relieving gels, ever since brilliant family doc, Martha Howard, showed up at a Chicago workshop I was giving and gave some to me to help relieve the obviously aching, injured hip I was hobbling around on.  How something so topical could go to work so deep inside the body is a mystery to me, but it did the job almost immediately.  I love this stuff.  So does Cindy’s mother.  So do most of my friends with arthritis or bursitis or tennis elbow or achey knees or computer hands - any chronic aches or pains.

The cool variety is for acute pain, swelling and inflammation, just as a cold-pack would be – and is also great for post-exercise aches and pains.  It probably would be a great gift item, along with Carol Ginandes’ CD set, Rapid Recovery from Injury, for your favorite sidelined athlete, come to think of it.

Both hot and cold varieties of Sombra are carefully made of all natural, herbal ingredients, and they’re completely free of grease and unhealthy solvents.  It goes on easily, feels great really fast, smells yummy and won’t stain your clothes.

We’re proud to bring you this fabulous glop, and encourage you to include it in your personal pain-relief tool kit.

OK, take care and be well!

to be fair balanced about topic gels for pain, I think you should include what's already out there. One of them is Voltaren Gel. I broke my ankle and after surgery, this gel was very helpful in relieving pain. Thank you. Barbara

I am stunned! After several years of nagging and at times extreme pain and now preparing to go into surgery for both knees -- and still desperate about extreme arthritis pain in both hands I feel as if I have experienced a miracle! I have used the jel on hands and knees for over a week but after just a couple of days I had almost complete relief from pain!!! For two years I have not been able to go up or down steps; my knees were too painful and I feared they would collapse on me. This weekend I went to a museum and walked all around for hours and UP and DOWN steps in several places.
I can think of nothing I have done different other than use the jel! I read the ingredients and wonder where the magic is. I suppose I don't need to know as long as the magic works!
I am most grateful!
