Facebook!

OK, Folks,
I decided to start blogging on Huffington Post about the value of imagery and other evidence-based, inexpensive, user-friendly therapies for troops coming home with posttraumatic stress.

This information needs to get to the hundreds – no, thousands - of soldiers who need it, but it’ll be months before this data will be published.

So without giving away details that are proprietary to the research process, I’m blabbing about the bottom line: what we can see works to make a big dent on PTSD symptoms.  So far, we know selected guided imagery does, along with a technique called Healing Touch.  Other promising tools are out there, too – biofeedback, Reiki, Massage Therapy, acupressure and more.  I plan to keep writing about these methods, to whatever extent I can.

If you are so moved, please check out the blog, sign in, and post any comments, reactions or thoughts you have about it, pro or con.  Pass it on to friends, family or organizations that could use this info.  It will help people with PTSD, and it needs to be seen.

OK, so I’ll get off my soapbox…. for now, anyway.

And being as how it’s September, Cindy’s put together a 25% off Back in School sale that’s running through October 4th.  We’ve got a terrific selection of imagery and hypnosis CDs to enhance learning, increase concentration, reduce test anxiety and improve confidence and mastery. And here again, the research supports the effectiveness of these methods for learning and performance.  So check it out. We have stuff for little kids too, but these sale items are geared for middle school kids on up through any age adult.

Okay, take care and be well!
All best,

Keep up the good work. I also am on a mission to educate others about the value of hypnotherapy and guided imagery to enhance health, wellness and a rich, full life.

The outcomes seem miraculous in light of our belief in traditional Western medicine.

I served in Iraq in 2003 in the Army. Hypnotherapy, Reiki and Meditation has helped my PTSD symptoms to improve greatly. I have also used your guided imagery and it is wonderful! I have meditated all my life. The greatest thing that has opened me up for healing and a better life is my openness to trying alternative therapies. Thank you for all you do for Veterans.

Blessings,

Ken

It's a great article, BellaRuth. I have been using the guided imagery tapes for PTSD, The Immune System, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Fighting Cancer, Chemotherapy, Radiation, Surgery, General Wellness, and Healthful Sleep and Reducing Stress for over a year now, since my cancer diagnosis. I am sure that our Vets will heal and maintain their peace and calm they can receive from imersing themselves in the healing guided imagery and affirmations on the tapes, as well as the relaxation techniques on them.

You are correct about PTSD. I look forward to the publishing of these results.

You know, when I had to have my second surgery ~ a major life threatening one at that ~ I used your surgery tape and brought the second tape into the OR with an approved recorder, and the staff were happy
to assist me in keeping playing in my ears for 5 hours... it was also on replay switch.

I used healing statements also, taped to my gown, that the OR staff could say to me at times, especially going under and coming to, about how I will heal quickly, how well everything went, and how minimal the bleeding will be and how delighted the surgeon is at how well everything is going.

I kept telling everyone at the hospital that asked how I was doing afterwords.. "I'm doing well at the moment" .. and it was true. I needed less medication and had a faster recovery than expected and compared to most others in the same situation.

I believe guided imagery and all the complimentary techniques you mentioned in your article on Huff Post help someone facing a 'life and death' situation or 'fight or flight' response from some experience in their life.

While I never went to war, I am sure it is a disturbing experience for the soldier.

I hope their survival and quality of life is expanded beyond their expectations and they see the healthy survivor in themselves that I see in myself.

Thanks for getting the information out there to so many and also, for helping me by doing what you do so well, and believing in all of us.. that we can get well and heal, and that our mind-body connection holds the key to recovery.

Peace and Wellness,
Joni

Belleruth,

You are brilliant! I have bought your "Pain" (MP3) and the results are phenomenal. I couldn't go downstairs and now i can make it through 3" stairs... just after 2-3 days of listening to your guided imagery. I can imagine what you are just about to achieve with the PTSD study!

I feel your name have become a mantra for me - i have been introducing your work to patients at physiotherapy places; I plan to buy the MP3 on Grief for friends. I have just talked to my orthopedic doctor who is considering adding body/mind treatments to his practice. I think he'll be very pleased to learn about your work and possibly consider it for his practice.

Thank you for all your wonderful work. Keep on blogging!

Sasha

Thanks for the support!
I'm also glad to read Joni's post about the surgery experience she had, because that level of assistance and cooperation from O.R. staff is now more commonplace than not. Progress!!
